Opinion: Nobody Wants to Admit the Feed Is a Bad Roommate

The feed is no longer a tool we visit. It is a cohabitation arrangement that interrupts dinner and still frames itself as a service.

Screenshot-style family group chat with procedural energy.

The feed behaves exactly like the roommate everyone complains about and nobody formally evicts. It barges in at bad times, leaves clutter everywhere, changes the mood of the apartment, and periodically insists you should be grateful because it keeps things lively.

Its power comes from being useful often enough to maintain leverage. It really does deliver headlines, invitations, jokes, and practical updates. Then it covers every flat surface in outrage dust and asks whether you saw the latest thing before breakfast.

We keep talking about discovery and connection because those words sound modern. The truer phrase is that the feed is a difficult person in the house.
